TERMINATION OF DONATIONS TO FAMILY
HOMES AND FOSTER FAMILIES
Since 2013, DollsVillas have been donated to approximately 1,800 [out-of-home]
children in 336 Dutch family homes and foster families through the Rudolph
Foundation and the Dutch Association for Foster Families.
Today the Rudolp
Foundation offered a farewell lunch for the donor and the designer. Foster
mother Anita Vlemmix Peeters: "Beautiful! The villa can be so helpful in
processing emotions, clarifying problems and giving structure to difficult
situations."

An unsettled
stress response due to intense experiences
in early life can recover during puberty.
The research suggests that in addition to
early childhood there is also a sensitive
period during puberty, during which the
biological stress system can still normalize
by growing up in a warm nest. In people who
grew up in an orphanage as a small child,
the body reacts differently to exciting
events at a later age than in people who
spent their early years in a normal family.
They make less of the stress hormone ortisol
at those moments than usual, because their
biological stress system functions less well.
It did not matter at what age the children
were adopted. Even with children who had
only ended up with a family after their
second year, the researchers saw this
normalization of the stress response.
